Home visits can be particularly helpful following surgery or a hospital stay, for people experiencing reduced mobility or balance problems, or when getting to the clinic is difficult.
Our physiotherapist can assess your movement, strength and mobility in your own environment and provide an individual treatment and rehabilitation programme to help you regain confidence and independence.
Who can benefit from a home visit?
A physiotherapy home visit can be helpful for a wide range of people, including those:
- experiencing reduced mobility
- recovering following surgery or a hospital stay
- experiencing problems with balance or falls
- finding everyday activities such as walking or using stairs more difficult
- recovering from an injury
- who would find travelling to the clinic difficult
Home physiotherapy can be particularly useful for older adults, as being assessed in your own surroundings allows your physiotherapist to understand how you are managing with everyday activities at home.
What can we help with?
Depending on your individual needs, home physiotherapy can help with:
- rehabilitation following illness, injury or surgery
- improving strength and mobility
- balance and falls prevention
- pain and musculoskeletal problems
- walking and stair mobility
- rebuilding confidence with everyday activities
- exercises and rehabilitation that can be continued independently at home
What happens during a home physiotherapy visit?
During your initial home visit, your physiotherapist will carry out a thorough assessment and talk to you about any difficulties you are experiencing and what you would like to achieve.
We will then agree an individual treatment and rehabilitation plan with you. This may include hands-on treatment where appropriate, exercises, strength and balance work, walking or mobility practice, and advice to help you manage more confidently at home.
