Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy involves the introduction of electrical energy to injuries to bring about a physiological change. It can be used for a huge variety of injuries and different injured tissue including muscle, ligament, tendon or bone.  Whether using electrotherapy that is using sound waves, shockwaves or magnetic therapy they all essentially help to create excitation in the cells around injuries to physiologically provide pain relief and/or improve their healing time. It essentially helps with our body’s own healing process by accelerating or kickstarting the response.

We use a variety of electrotherapy modalities usually in combination with each other or together with other treatments during a session at Corsham Physiotherapy including:

  • Interferential
  • Ultrasound
  • LASER
  • LIPUS
  • Pulsed shortwave
  • Shockwave
