Patient receiving physiotherapy

Physiotherapy in Corsham

At Corsham Physiotherapy, our experienced Chartered Physiotherapists assess and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal problems, from back and joint pain to sports injuries and rehabilitation following surgery.

We take an individual approach to treatment. Following a thorough assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss their findings with you and agree a treatment and rehabilitation plan based on your symptoms, your goals and what matters to you.

Our approach combines treatment to help relieve your symptoms with rehabilitation to restore movement, strength and function, while also addressing factors that may be contributing to the problem.

Our approach to physiotherapy

Understanding your problem

Your first appointment will include a thorough assessment. Your physiotherapist will talk to you about your symptoms, how they are affecting you and what you would like to achieve, before carrying out a physical assessment where appropriate.

We will explain our findings and discuss the treatment options with you so that together we can agree the best way forward.

Helping to relieve your symptoms

When you’re in pain, helping to relieve your symptoms is important. Depending on your condition, treatment may include hands-on physiotherapy and other treatment techniques available within the clinic.

Our aim is to help make your symptoms more manageable so that you can move more comfortably and begin working towards your longer-term goals.

Restoring movement, strength and function

As appropriate, treatment will progress to address movement, strength, flexibility, balance or other areas identified during your assessment.

Your rehabilitation will be tailored to you, whether your goal is getting back to everyday activities, returning to work or sport, recovering following surgery, or simply moving with greater confidence.

Helping you stay well

Where possible, we’ll also look at factors that may have contributed to your problem and help you reduce the likelihood of it recurring.

This may include an individual exercise or rehabilitation programme, advice about managing your condition, or changes to the way you approach particular activities.

Treatment tailored to you

There isn’t one treatment that is right for everyone. Your physiotherapist will recommend treatment according to your individual condition, preferences and goals.

Alongside hands-on physiotherapy and rehabilitation, our physiotherapists can incorporate a range of treatment techniques where appropriate, including:

Your physiotherapist will explain any treatment they recommend and why they think it may be helpful. If there is anything you are not comfortable with, please let us know.

If we feel that further investigation or an opinion from another healthcare professional would be appropriate, we will discuss this with you and can refer you onwards where necessary.

Physiotherapy home visits

We also offer physiotherapy home visits in Corsham and the surrounding villages for people who would benefit from assessment and rehabilitation in their own home.

Home visits can be particularly useful following surgery or a hospital stay, for people experiencing reduced mobility or balance problems, or when travelling to the clinic is difficult.
